Hi everyone. I am adopting a new Mastiff in 2 weeks.  I'm excited and nervous. He's going to be 3 Nov 1. Does anyone have any suggestions for me and know what I could be concerned about? Anything will help. Oh also I have a year old female Bernese Mt Dog who will also be adjusting. Thanks!

He came from Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue if anyone is curious.

Hi Natasha, so glad to see you here!!!  I have missed talking to you!!

First I want to say that I think it is wonderful that you are adopting him. You guys are a great family and he is VERY lucky to have you.

Zoey and Hooch have met right? Any they did well together when they met?

If they did well the first time, it should go smoothly when you bring him home. Zoey might be a little "different" when he gets there just because that is HER space that he is coming too.  I would for sure do things slowly at first. You can't have any hesitations or the dogs will get that sense from you and be hesitant also.  I would possibly feed them away from each other until they have bonded. With it being a male and female I really don't think you will have that big of a problem.

I hope this helps a little, I am sure Tara will throw some suggestions in on this too.

Good luck and keep us posted and also post some pics of your crew when he gets home!!

Zoe did awesome with Hooch. She was terrified of him at first, but he stayed calm. She ended up getting a little hot from the sun so she laid down and he walked over to her and blocked the sun. It was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Then Zoe realized he was no threat and started playing with him and he happily played back. When Zoe stopped he stopped and he only played with her when she wanted to play. Megan, his foster mom, says he pretty much been a follower the whole time she has had him. This should make things easy. We are also taking her with us to get him. I want to see how they do one more time just to be sure. If it all works out then he's coming home with us then. We have an expedition with a pet barrier so since it's a 2 hour car ride he can ride in the back seat and she can ride in the very back.
