What made you decide.....

to get a mastiff?

I met my first one about 5 years ago at a dog show and I was hooked ever since. I researched it felt like forever before we brought Kollow home. I never thought much of it when people had told me "you can't have just one"  4 mastiffs later, I am thinking of getting another one!!

Does the madness ever stop???  Confused

My husband introduced the idea and boy I bet he is sooo happy now.  He wanted one and wow now we have 6.  They are just like potatoe chips aren't they.  However he only wanted a pet and so after our first mastiff I fell in love and after owning them I wanted to take it another step further.  I have met many great and not so great people in the mastiff community but I have gained a ton of knowledge through it all.

I wanted to feel safe again, My husband travels 20 weeks out of every year out of country and people were trying to break in every time he left, the alarm system didn't seem to deter, and I would barely sleep the whole week he was gone. I wanted a breed that was good with tiny dogs (chihuahuas) and kids, that would not be a liability in public, but would stand their ground to protect family and home. ~ we are not re-newing our security system when our contract is up, my babies have already proven themselves.
Mack is my best friend and confidant, and Charlie fits so well with us, I know she too already has a strong tie to me.

I am with you on that one Beth!!

My husband is a truck driver and usually gone Mon-Fri, so I feel so much safer here with my big guys.

plus what a good bed snuggler and blanket they are...

plus I think they are great therapy.  Especially on those gloomy days what better what to be cheered up than by that big slobbery tongue. Laughing

I saw my first mastiff when I was a little girl and have loved the breed ever since. My entire family is infatuated with large breeds. My brother had a newph and my sister had a rottie. When Tim (my fiancé) and I started dating we sat on the couch one day and played 20 questions. That is when we found out we both wanted a mastiff. From that day forward all I did was research research research. Now we have Kaboose and I am counting down the days until I am allowed my next baby!

Is that going to be anytime soon Kelly???? Wink

I always loved big dogs, my mom has worked in a veterinarian's office for around 15 -16 years. I used to go to work with her before I started school, and then I started to go there after school, so I was introduced to all kinds of dogs. Unfortunately, I never met an English Mastiff until the last year or so. I love going to puppy stores and playing with the puppies, one time they had a mastiff and my boyfriend and I played around with him. We fell in love, however, I know better than to get one from the puppy store! I went home and started doing research and decided that I wanted to breed them. My boyfriend also travels quite a bit so I was into the whole protection thing. I started looking for breeders, and Courtney was the best response that I got. She also lives alot closer then some of the others. I liked the way Kollow looked and the rest is history!!!!  Very Happy
