Hi, I thought I would start a thread and ask how much every one feeds their fur kids, what you are feeding and how much they should weigh at certain ages. Tara, I am not sure if you still have all of Kabooses weigh ins but I wouldn't mind you using him as an example because I am pretty sure he was always right on track but I lost that break down.

We feed Kaboose Eagle Pack Holistic 5 cups in the morning with a 1/2 moist topper and then 6 cups at night with another 1/2 cup moist and he still seems starving. Should we be feeding him more? He is almost 10 months old and weighs around 160? Any help would be great!

Really, Legend is on full feed, but on an average day he eats about 6-8 cups. some days he eats more, but some days he eats less. It really depends on his growth spurts. Some days he has more energy and some days he has less.

Each of my dogs eat different amounts...Desi eats about 10 cups, kollow and Star eat about 8 and dekcer eats about 6-8 depending on what he has done that day!  Surprised)

Desi's weight is about 125-130 lbs/10 months
Kollow is 175lbs/2 1/2 years
Decker is roughly 50 lbs/4 months
Star-I don't have a clue  lol

If Kaboose is still acting like he is starving I would up his food intake by a 1/2 cup per feeding and see how he does. His weight sounds great for his age.

Different lines mature at different paces. One 10 month old male might weigh 140lbs and another might way 180 lbs depending on what pedigree is behind them and so on.

My guys were on eagle pack holistic though now due to Mack's allergy are on    a canadaan holistic lamb food, Mack  is 11 mo. 175 lbs, and eats a 5 qt. dish full with two table spoons of "wellness 95% chicken 2 times a day, believe it or not, Charlie (unsure right now of weight) is eating 3/4 the same amount but in 4 meals through the day. (she's an active little one.)
Both are lean and not under or over weight.
I think you should feed them what they need, if they are active break it up throughout the day as they need the energy, as long as you don't notice them gaining extra fat. different lines grow at different rates and some bigger some smaller. Mack I think will make his daddies size, maybe a bit bigger (230-240) but he is tall too.
: )

This is a very good topic.  Thanks for starting it Kelly.  This topic has to really go by each individual dog itself.  You need to watch for the signs of whether or not they are still hungry after their feeding or do you feed all day long when they want to eat they can eat.

My guys are going through another growth spurt and Ryker acts like he is just absolutely starving even though we all know that is not the case.  Megan I have to feeding very carefully for those of you that have met her in person she is a hog but thinks she is starving.  I think her biggest weight gain happened after we had her fixed.

Okay we just got home from the vet and took Decker to be weighed. He is 58.6 lbs and not quite 4 months yet.  So he is growing up to be a big handsome boy!!!
